Tunisia (Jasmine)
The Jasmine Revolution was triggered in Tunisia in 2010, when street vendor Mohamed Bouazizi set himself on fire in protest against a corrupt system and systematic harassment by authorities that made it impossible for him to provide for his family. His desperate act became a symbol of the population’s widespread anger over mass youth unemployment, poverty, and lack of political freedom. This led to a national uprising that in January 2011 overthrew President Ben Ali’s authoritarian regime, marking the beginning of the Arab Spring. The white jasmine became a unifying symbol of the desire for dignity and a clean, peaceful future free from corruption.

Tunesien (jasminen)
