Kyrgyzstan (the Tulip)
During the protests in Kyrgyzstan in 2005, known as the Tulip Revolution, the tulip became a symbol of political change and the rebirth of spring. The uprising arose following accusations of electoral fraud, corruption, and abuse of power under President Askar Akayev. The protests united the population in opposition to Akayev and led to him fleeing the country on 24 March 2005. This revolution was the mother of the many revolutions to come in Eastern Europe, now known as the Colour Revolutions.

Kirgisistan (tulipanen)
Under protesterne i Kirgisistan i 2005, kendt som Tulipanrevolutionen, blev tulipanen et symbol på politisk forandring og forårets genfødsel. Oprøret opstod efter anklager om valgsvindel, korruption og magtmisbrug under præsident Askar Akajev. Protesterne samlede bred folkelig modstand og førte til, at Akajev flygtede fra landet den 24. marts 2005. Denne revolution var moder til de mange kommende revolutioner i Østeuropa, som nu er kendt som de farvede revolutioner.
