Exhibition Opening: Lukas Müller: Palindrome, alongside selected works by artists of the gallery.
Lukas Müller (b. 1986) is based in Berlin and studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Städelschule Frankfurt am Main. Recent exhibitions include Hilos at the Miettinen Collection, Poetics of the Everyday at Sies + Höke, Liste Art Fair Basel, Paris Internationale, danke Imagination Apartment Works at Lucas Hirsch in Düsseldorf, and Against Nature at Neue Alte Brücke in Frankfurt am Main.
The exhibition Palindrome presents a series of new works executed in Müller’s characteristic pastel on raw linen. As the title suggests, Palindrome explores the reciprocal dialogue and exchange between the work and the viewer. Through distortions of proportion and space, Müller creates dreamscapes that push boundaries while emphasising the tension between Surrealism and Realism, and between memory, dreams, and reality. This approach reflects Müller’s previous investigations into memory, perception, and impermanence, while simultaneously opening up a renewed dialogue in which the viewer is invited to project their own memories; a work thus reflects what you see in it. Just as you read the painting, it reads you back.
