Alice Folker Gallery is honoured to present Mouths, Vessels, Portals, a solo exhibition by Karim Boumjimar. Unfolding across ceramics, painting, and drawing, the exhibition traces a cartography of bodily memory and imagery. Boumjimar weaves personal experience, cruising culture, and references to mythological and historical figures into vibrant, kaleidoscopic compositions that dissolve boundaries of time, space, and the body.
The solo exhibition presents new works across ceramics, canvas and drawings. Karim's works are marked by bodily memory and illustrations, interweave fleeting encounters from his surroundings and cruising culture with mythological and historical figures, collapsing time into chance meetings. They extend a visual language that reimagines hybrid bodies, intimacy, and transformation.
Karim Boumjimar (b. 1998, Spain) has an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen and a BFA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. Boumjimar challenges social hierachies and norms through performance, painting, sculpture, installation, and drawing. His works explore queer communities and interspecies kinship and investigate the complex relationship between nature, culture, and identity.
